Keep it simple eat real food!

My sister posted this on Facebook recently, I have watched this lecture by Dr. Terry Wahls few times and it makes such sense what she is saying. I hope that she gets through to people suffering. I hope the perception drug mafia does not manage to silence her!

Meatless monday?

Do we have to eat meat every day?

I am concerned about the future we have as a race. I worry about the consequences of globalization and global warming. I think it is sad how we have treated our mother. Mother earth. There are some things, little things that we can do to minimize the damage. If we all stopped eating meat. It would help the planet tremendously. But is it realistic?

No!!

But what if we just started with one meat meal less pr. week? It would actually make a big difference. Read this article on research on the impact of too much meat being produced globally. Here is part of the articles conclusion;

“The case against eating animal products is ironclad; it’s not a new argument, and it goes way beyond just global warming. Animals will not grow or produce flesh, milk, or eggs without food and water; they won’t do it without producing excrement; and the stages of meat, dairy, and egg production will always cause pollution and be resource-intensive.”

Not to mention the health benefits, save you and save the planet while doing it! Start with meatless monday.

I could´t help throwing in some hard-core message, the Smiths say it their way.

Stressful life?

The reason I have not been writing is lack of time. Well..not lack of it I have 24 hours a day like the rest of you! I have a family, job and I am studying so I have to choose. One of the things that I chose to rest was my blog. It is funny when I stopped, months went by and the motivation somehow just did not come back.

Maybe because this summer I wrote my thesis in Art history and between work and family I was writing my thesis. So to get away from it all!! Would not include writing.

What inspired me to write today is the fact that young women are having heart attacks due to as it seems stress. And stress related disease I read this article, why do zebras not get ulcers on Wikipedia and I think it is interesting that the repeated stress is making us sick. Because we are constantly in stress mode opposed the stress of the zebra that is purely ´run for your life now´

Then there was this doctors article on French women and heart disease. Pretty interesting. The conclusion is;

“Considering that the young women in the FAST – MI registry tended not to have high cholesterol levels nor high blood pressure, one has to wonder about a possible  role of inflammation. We do know that inflammation is involved in atherosclerosis and acute coronary events, although a causative role has yet to be defined and proven or unproven. Inflammation is certainly related to both obesity and smoking and could therefore, at least in theory, be a common link explaining the changes in risk profile among French women suffering a heart attack. I wonder if the French paradox is till alive and well.”

The doc´s blog is full of useful info and links.

So what to do?

Relax cut yourself some slack. And breathe through your heart :-)

Pema Chödrön´s words of wisdom

Wisdom that I came across in my daily blog reading routine

I was reading through blogs this morning and mind/body/spirit Academy  had written a great post on patience. With a quote from Pema Chödrön. I am a big fan of Chödrön, along with reading the post I was browsing Chödrön´s web and I found abundance of writings that spoke to me. I am going to quote one of them;

“As long as we’re caught up in always looking for certainty and happiness, rather than honoring the taste and smell and quality of exactly what is happening, as long as we’re always running away from discomfort, we’re going to be caught in a cycle of unhappiness and disappointment, and we will feel weaker and weaker. This way of seeing helps us to develop inner strength.”

This is a quote from Pema Chödrön writings on SHAMBALA SUN . One more reminder of living here and now, not there and then.

Thank you mind/body/spirit academy for the re-acquaintance with Chödrön.

A true yes and a true no

 Simple enough?

I had a discussion the other day with friends. The topic was honesty. No white lyes no arranging the truth to accommodate other people’s feelings.

It All Came True

It All Came True ©Wikipedia

Someone boiled the answer into this ;

When you say no, mean it, and when you say yes, mean it.

It is just as simple as that! If we stop saying yes to things that we don´t want to do we feel better about our selves.

Many of us , including me had to learn how to say no. I said yes long after my schedule was full and my days were so stressful that I woke up in tension.

But what I realized was that the yes has to be true too. Not only did I have to learn to say no in a gentle, loving manner. I need also to learn to mean the yes.

The funny thing is that my gut-feeling tells me if I am sincere about my yes and no.

If I´m not truthful to my self, my physical body reacts. The second thoughts start bothering me, the doubts, the anxious feeling in my stomach. Amazing isn´t it?

“People these days don’t know how to just sit in a room or any environment and merely absorb it and take it in. Instead, they have mind-numbing games on their phone to devote their attention to, facebook updates to know about, text messages and tweets to send, beautiful robotically edited pictures to post in an attempt to make their life seem somewhat interesting and from this desire to let people know what they are doing.

Summer solstice dance

Let me tell you about last night

I got to enjoy the summer solstice with a good friend, we met up with a group of women (one man) to celebrate the longest day of the year. We did not take any pictures, therefore I  will  find a video from a similar dance and try my best to describe the scenario.

We met about six in the evening and danced 5 rhythm dance till about nine. We did the wave of dance Gabrielle Roth style. Then there was time for food and togetherness. It was just  wonderful.

Here is a video explaining and showing the 5 rhythms of dance;

This is what I did last night, loosen up, totally. Barefoot outside on the ground with a BIG group of people that are just like me, looking inwards in the midst of the material world. We were surrounded by the Icelandic nature and the midnight sun. The rain made the senses dance too. The scent from the birch is unforgettable!

It was lovely and I am THANKFUL for the beautiful moment.

Four Dental Causes of Cancer

19.6.2012

Hi folks,

I often say it's a miracle that we, as the wonderful living beings that we are, are still alive.   When one considers what we've been bombarded with (such a chemtrails; aspartame; vaccines; fluoride; genetically butchered foods etc etc etc etc) and now conventional dentistry.  The onslaught on our pearlies!

 As with reflexology, each part of the foot is related to some part in the body;   well so is each tooth connected to a point in the body.

Like an old machine

After a blog stop I find it hard to start again.

We are back in Iceland, in a temporary housing though. We get our house next spring. But after a year not working we really need to “cut the fat”. We need to keep expenses as low as possible. We are adjusting, this is our third day. I got my blender started today and managed to make my first morning shake since June 5th. I took the heavy blender with me on a road trip and on the flight. Everywhere I went my blender and vitamins did too. But in New York I strayed off, although the place we got to stay in was lovely. We were staying in a friends working studio so I did not want to mess with the fruit and veggies and the protein powder, rice milk and you know what else… So I just decided to rest my case. I can feel it in my joints though. Too much coffee and too little good food. But the routine will be there soon.

I feel like I have an old machine to get started

I wanted to start writing again as soon as possible so that I would not fall out of my routine completely.Staying at the studio (the temporary housing)  has many advantages. It is spacious and a good work place. The bonus feature is that looking out of the window is a meditation in itself. I see the ocean , the small boats and the magical Snæfellsjökull.
