How do I stay positive?
We live wall to wall with heavy drinkers. Christmas and New years has been extremely busy for them. They “party” all day and all night then find a time to “sleep” now and then. That is , they pass out and when they wake up they are at it again. Many days of drinking makes a person insane. So for the last three nights and day´s we have heard screams coming from the person that is in the worst condition. My husband thinks the person is experiencing delirium tremens or some sort of psychotic state. Well…. our bedroom is wall to wall with their living room so there have been some sleepless nights in the past. The screaming is worst. Well ….the polish disco is pretty bad too, actually… so is the occasional singing.
Two nights ago I was fast a sleep when I woke up at 01:30 and could not sleep again. I called the police but it actually did not change much. So after the sleepless night I called work and asked to work from home and crawled into bed to get some rest.
Last night when we were going to bed it sounded like we would not get any rest so we decided to camp out in our living room. Which we did and we made it a fun experience. Totally different from the night before when we were giving our drunk neighbors full control over our mood. We already have talked to the neighbours, yelled at them, called the police, talked to the landlord. Nothing we do is going to change the way they choose to live. So the action plan is to open the wall in the bedroom and look at the isolation, improve the isolation and when it is at its worst, camp out in the living room.
When I was putting our duvet and pillows from the camping back ,I noticed two, not one, but two huge spiders in my bed. Ugh….they had come with the madras from the storage room. I saw the third spider when putting the madras away again in the storage room. It is winter!!! There are not supposed to be any spiders alive in January!!!
I love all gods creatures but I actually am not fond of sleeping with them.
That is my story of spiders and drunks for today.
Although my spiders did not have the beauty of Louise Bourgeois spiders which are my favorite spiders in the world.
This is so true. Learning to live in the now might be the most important thng we ever learn, or master.
The statement should be wrong
The controversy is that marketing can sell us anything as health food. Even something that we truly believe is doing us good, is making us fat.
Visit BBC website to see clips and read more
“In Britain the sales of foods marketed as healthier are rocketing. But what if the very food sold to us as healthier is making us fat? Pierre Chandon, a Professor at Harvard Business School, has done ground breaking research into how fattening foods are marketed as healthy.”
Together with Brian Wansink he wants us to avoid the health HALOS
And what they call mindless eating.
So if you wonder who holds the power in the health food industry (organic) apart from the fast food chains they are talking about, like Subway brainwashing “LOW FAT”ads and commercials.

Have we overdone the sanitizing?
I found this article in the New York Times very interesting. It is about how we have sterilized and cleaned our environment up to a point that it is making us sick.
Dirt is a lot of fun!
I just had to share this photo in contrast, these lady´s are not afraid of the dirt as you can see from the picture. Let me introduce the Cobras, from last years world cup in mud-soccer, in my hometown of Ísafjörður Iceland;
The rules ar meant to be broken, referee bribing is encouraged, the main goal is to have fun!

Let me tell you about last night
I got to enjoy the summer solstice with a good friend, we met up with a group of women (one man) to celebrate the longest day of the year. We did not take any pictures, therefore I will find a video from a similar dance and try my best to describe the scenario.
We met about six in the evening and danced 5 rhythm dance till about nine. We did the wave of dance Gabrielle Roth style. Then there was time for food and togetherness. It was just wonderful.
Here is a video explaining and showing the 5 rhythms of dance;
This is what I did last night, loosen up, totally. Barefoot outside on the ground with a BIG group of people that are just like me, looking inwards in the midst of the material world. We were surrounded by the Icelandic nature and the midnight sun. The rain made the senses dance too. The scent from the birch is unforgettable!
It was lovely and I am THANKFUL for the beautiful moment.

Acidic food and alkaline foods
I am a fan of MindBodyGreen on Facebook. This morning there was a post based on Kris Carr, Ph information. A graph explaining PH-value
I found the chart to be insufficient but in the comments below was a more detailed list of PH-value; Based on Back to the house of health which is a website with abundance of information related to PH value and alkaline food.
I could not copy the list as a picture here is the whole list, I took out some of the values that I thought were interesting. I was surprised that lime and lemon are alkaline opposed to oranges that are acidic. Meat is the worst when trying to avoid acidic foods. I was surprised by the acidic value of hard cheese. I already knew that milk was acidic and straining the calcium storage of the body. Like all animal protein, milk acidifies the body PH. I did however not know that the cheese was this acidic. Artificial sweeteners are the worst of all sweeteners, one more reason to avoid them!
Here are some values + sign indicates alkaline and – sign indicates acidic

An extremely interesting post on dental health with a link to the source. Cancer truth has loads of interesting articles
on cancer and the holistic relationship.
After a blog stop I find it hard to start again.
We are back in Iceland, in a temporary housing though. We get our house next spring. But after a year not working we really need to “cut the fat”. We need to keep expenses as low as possible. We are adjusting, this is our third day. I got my blender started today and managed to make my first morning shake since June 5th. I took the heavy blender with me on a road trip and on the flight. Everywhere I went my blender and vitamins did too. But in New York I strayed off, although the place we got to stay in was lovely. We were staying in a friends working studio so I did not want to mess with the fruit and veggies and the protein powder, rice milk and you know what else… So I just decided to rest my case. I can feel it in my joints though. Too much coffee and too little good food. But the routine will be there soon.
I feel like I have an old machine to get started
I wanted to start writing again as soon as possible so that I would not fall out of my routine completely.Staying at the studio (the temporary housing) has many advantages. It is spacious and a good work place. The bonus feature is that looking out of the window is a meditation in itself. I see the ocean , the small boats and the magical Snæfellsjökull. (Jules Verne, A journey to the center of the Earth.
